August 25 - Garage is Full

A huge thank you to Cheryl, Alan, Fiona & Kevin for coming out on Friday night to help prep the garage for Saturday morning when the Bobcat was showing up to move the crushed concrete. We would not have been ready without their help working til the dark of night by car headlights.
The piles are gone!

Bobcat working in garage.

If you compare the 3 pictures below with the previous blog entry you will see how much crushed concrete was put in (about 2 feet) & how much higher we are standing. Now we have to work along the edges to make sure there are no voids (rake & shovel) and then rent a big packer to pack it down & help it all settle.

While the bobcat was there, Marshall got him to take some dirt from the last pile in the back and fill under the deck. Now it just has to be raked to slope it away from the house.

August 20 - Time to Fill the Garage

In order to allow the garage fill to settle before we pour the concrete floor, it is the next task at hand. We plan to pour the floor in late fall, before the freeze.

Above shows 6 loads of crushed concrete headed for inside the garage.

Below - before pictures showing how deep the hole is before being filled.

The sunset was so gorgeous on the way home tonight I just had to share.

August 20 - Insulation & Vapour Barrier

These pictures show the insulation & vapour barrier all done. This has been inspected and approved and we can go ahead with drywall.
