We went out to the house late this afternoon to check out the finished product of the floor, roll up the orange tarps & do a little clean up.
The floor looks awesome, is very smooth and is about 5 inches thick. They did a great job!

April 26 - Floor is Done
Today was a beautiful day for pouring concrete floors! According to the weather reports, it was the warmest day we have had in 190 days...it got to about +14C!!
Camera malfunction on the first two pictures, sorry they are a little blurry...but they help to tell the story. Marshall went out about 11:00 am to see how things were going. They had poured the floor already and were there til about 6:00 pm smoothing it out.

The last concrete truck to leave.
The pump and pipe that carried the concrete to the basement (through the window on the west side).
Just poured and still wet.
Above & below, the guys working on the floor.
Using the power trowel and sprinkling water on the floor. The floor will be dry enough to walk on it tomorrow. What we could see from looking down into the basement, the floor looked great! Very exciting!

April 23 - Basement Floor Update
Went to the house right after work and we arrived just as George was leaving. He & his crew did some awesome work today. They leveled the beam and told us they would be pouring on Friday morning!
We didn't want to walk on the floor so Marshall took these pictures from the ladder.

The heaters are hanging from the beam. The re-bar is in embedded into the styrofoam wall.
Stones all leveled, plastic down and sealed and the re-bar on top.

April 22 - Prep for Basement Floor
As we were heading to the house tonight to clean out the basement, we received a phone call from George saying that he is heading to the house tomorrow to start on the basement floor & hoping to pour by the end of the week. YAY!!!
Marshall hung the heaters to get them off of the floor & out of the way. They will be removing the window above the ladder and bringing the vapour barrier, re-bar and concrete through it.
Here's the empty basement - the 'before'. Hopefully by the weekend we will have 'after' pictures with a concrete floor. Fingers crossed! :)

April 9 - Update
Not much to show on the new house as we have been working on our current house for the last few weeks to prep it to sell. Hope to have it ready within a month. It's funny how many 'treasures' one collects after almost 20 years in one location. lol
When Marshall can get out to the house, he has been working on the electrical and figures that after one more full day he will be ready to call for an inspection. Once that is done, the tasks will be: install the central vacuum; insulate; vapour barrier & drywall. (There's a building inspection or two before the drywall goes up.)
We were hoping to pour the basement floor within the next couple of weeks. Marshall called our concrete guy today to get this lined up and his voice mail said that he is away til April 18th. So we will have to wait until he comes back from holidays. Until this happens we will be going to the house every day from work to keep our eye on the settling progress & adjust the teleposts as necessary.
So there is a lot going on, just not all at the new house!
This time last year...no house & no snow.
Marshall is adjusting the teleposts to compensate for the settling of the ground as it thaws.
The mud is starting to appear...so are the ruts!!
I inadvertently found some deep snow with my right leg...almost 3' deep.
