Not much has happened in the last week as we are still busy getting our current house ready to list. Laurie helped me paint yesterday while Marshall spent the day at the house working on the wiring.
We had to get plowed out again after last week's snowstorm that dumped about 6" on us. Marshall took these pictures yesterday of the snow piles.

March 19 - Update
Luckily we have wonderful daughters who have wonderful boyfriends who all helped us on Saturday...Thank you to: Joël & Marc who dug the piles of dirt and covered up the pipes in the basement; Alanna who worked on wiring with Marshall and Laurie for helping me in our current house (we are currently painting & prepping to get it on the market to sell).
Pipes are buried in the ground. Thanks Boys! Heat remains on as there is still frost in the ground and can't pour concrete yet.
Lots of wires coming down to the panel. Coiled on the left is: telephone-white; Coax(TV)-black; network (for the computers)-blue.
From the street. More snow out here than it looks. We walked around the house tonight and it was up to my knees in many places...good thing I stayed out of the deep drifts!

March 16 - A Point of Interest
On March 16, 2012 it was +20C!!! We all basked in the beautiful spring we had last year, knowing full well that we would probably not get a repeat of it this year. Well, considering that as I am typing this it is -21C (with a windchill of -30C) we were 100% correct.
I thought I would post this picture of our property taken on March 22, 2012...a far cry from the amount of snow we have now and sure hope we don't get the forecasted 10cm for tomorrow!! NO MORE SNOW!!!

March 12 - Plumbing
The plumbing passed inspection. :)
As soon as the basement thaws a bit more and the house settles back down we can get the basement floor poured.
In the mean time, Marshall is continuing to work on the electrical. He had an electrical apprentice working with him on Friday and Saturday. Thanks Alanna for keeping your Dad on the right track.

March 8 - Plumbing Started
After a few weeks of heating the basement, the ground has thawed enough for the plumbers to start their work!! They were out there on Wednesday & Thursday this week. Once the building inspector gives the work his approval, all the pipes can be covered up and the ground leveled. We will keep the heat on so the ground can continue to thaw and soon the floor can be poured.
The ground has been dug and the drainage pipes laid. The pipes sticking out of the ground at the far end are for the bathroom we will be putting down there.
Thawed enough that there is water...we will get the sump pump going as soon as it thaws out.
Plumbing in main bathroom.
Plumbing in ensuite. Boxes in the walk in closet (behind) are what is needed to install the wood stove.
Plumbing in the 2 pce bathroom off the mudroom. Blue tarp in the background is covering the basement stair opening to keep the heat downstairs.

March 3 - Update
It`s been a busy few days. I took holidays on Thursday & Friday and Marshall took Friday off.
Thursday night we went to Steinbach to pick up our built in vacuum and like the town's advertising states..."It's worth the trip to Steinbach"...it definitely was. If anyone (here in MB...not such a great deal for our friends in NL, ON, AB or BC, lol) is looking for a Beam built-in vacuum, go to Janzen's Painting on Main Street & talk to Darryl Janzen. (Thanks again to Henri for this lead.) Darryl was helpful, friendly & honest and offered a better price than we could find in Winnipeg.
While in Steinbach we went to Penner Building...I think we know where everything is in this store now-we're getting to be regulars. lol. We picked up the last 2 pieces of fascia to finish that job and also the replacement basement window for the broken one they delivered a few weeks back.
Thursday & Friday were painting days for me...starting to get the house ready to put on the market (hopefully by mid-April).
Thanks to Cheryl & Kevin (her son) who came on Friday...their help was greatly appreciated. :)
Thanks to our concrete guy (George) who lent us 6 insulated tarps to lay down on the main floor to help keep the heat in the basement. Let's get that ground thawed out!!
Marshall & Henri had a very productive days on Friday & Saturday: laid out the tarps on the main floor; replaced the basement window; installed all the shave stops; finished the fascia and worked on the wiring (Marshall is very close to having the main floor finished).
Today we've been painting...why didn't we do this months ago so we could enjoy it? lol
Our plumber stopped by on Friday to mark the ground where he will need to dig to lay the drainage pipes. Marshall shoveled the rocks off of this area to help the heat get into the ground and thaw it quicker. The current plan is that the plumber will be back on Tuesday to start digging! YAY!!

1 tarp in bedroom (another is in the master bedroom)
3 tarps in living room area
1 tarp in hallway from front door to door to garage in mudroom.

Above & below pictures...Shave stops (soffit insulation baffle) in the eaves. These give an air pocket once the insulation is blown in, which is needed for attic ventilation.
