September 17 - And We're Off!!!!

After many months of planning and waiting, we met with the concrete guy at 7:00 am to finalize the depth in which we were digging. It was a brisk -2 C when we headed out, but what a beautiful sunrise...

The excavators arrived just after 8:00 am and after a quick lesson, Kenny let Marshall dig the ceremonial first scoop. It was so exciting and Marshall was smiling from ear to ear - just like a kid with a new Tonka truck.

The Dig - Parts 1 & 2
In order to upload the videos of Marshall taking the first ceremonial dig, I took 2 smaller ones.

All done playing with the big toy.

After work, we headed out to see the finished hole...pretty impressive.
This is Alanna, Marc, Marshall & Rosemary.

Rosemary, Laurie, Alanna & Marshall in the 'kitchen'.

That's one big empty hole!!! It is about 4' wider than the house will be on each side to allow room to build the foundation...then it will be backfilled. The wood shows where the corners of the house will be. The finished dimensions of the house are 50' x 33'.
