George (concrete man) was there alone today and got about 95% of the forms done. The weather did not co-operate as it rained off and on so his day was stop & start.
Alanna helped George today as he was short labour and they accomplished a fair bit. They finished the forms for the footings; built 3 forms for the telepost pads; laid the weeping tile and dug the sump pit.
The weather was absolutely miserable today. Aside from the north winds that were blowing at 31 km/h with gusts to 61 km/h, it poured rain, hailed and I really hate to type this four letter word, but they had snow as well. Hopefully the weather man is correct for next week as he is calling for sunny skies and temperatures in the low teens.
Concrete for the footings will be poured on Monday.
For those that need an explanation of how the weeping tiles & sump work...the water seeps into the weeping tiles around the outside of the perimeter of the foundation, drains into the weeping tiles under the basement floor(the 4 large black tubes), into the sump pit (the big black thing in the ground) and gets pumped out another hose (that isn't there yet) into the yard, away from the house. I know this isn't technical, but it's how I understand it works and Marshall approved. lol
Ok, so the footings weren't poured on Monday, they were poured today!!!!
The pile of white blocks are our future basement walls - ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms). They go together like Leggo blocks and then are filled with concrete & rebar. The current plan is that they will start putting these together tomorrow and put gravel down as well.
