February 23 - Update 2 of 2

I was out at the house for a few hours today to see what's what and took more pictures for Marshall (& believe it or not, did some tidying - job for next weekend once closets are done!)...have a look. Lucky for us, Henri is available most of next week to continue working on the house & last week he gathered a crew (Abel, Gil & Marc) to accomplish lots.
Merl (the closet guy) started on Friday and should be done all of the closets by Wednesday (except for some back ordered shelves for the master walk-in). Henri is working on painting all the bi-fold closet doors so they will be up next week as well. Baseboards & trim is almost complete...electrical is almost complete...just gotta get our HVAC guy on site long enough to finish up!!! Looking more and more finished every day!!

Below 2 pictures are the firewall between the shop bay and the car/truck bays. This goes all the way up through the rafters to the roof.

Below 2 pictures are the shop. OSB on the shop side (easy to hang tools, shelves, etc) drywall on the car bay side. This is all insulated & I will arrange to have the ceiling blown in within the next few weeks. Lights, heat detector & garage door opener need to be installed.

Appliances arrived a couple weeks ago and were put in place last week. Just need to unwrap them now.

Trim around the window is done.

Pocket door between mudroom & dining room. The same as the one on the 2 pce bathroom & between front hall and mudroom.

Henri surprised us with a lovely shelf for the front entrance.

En-suite shower door.

Trim around front hall closets (to be installed once painted) and door to basement & fixture in basement stairwell. Some of the trim needs to be filled and second coat of paint.

February 23 - Update 1 of 2

Things are still happening. When I was at the house on Monday I took quite a few pictures to show Marshall - here's a few of them. Thank goodness for Henri...we'd be schnuckered (not a real word but gotta keep this G-rated) without him.
Light has been installed in main bathroom shower (Alanna & Joel did this a while ago).

Mirror is now up in 2 pce bathroom.

Henri's painting all the baseboards & trim.

HRV ducting in basement. Central vac on wall.

The nice tidy wiring job that Alanna is doing. Coils on the left are TV, intranet & phone.

Awesome steps that Henri built. We were using the little step that Marshall built for me for the camper (pictured here under the new steps).Railing is in the corner to the left of the door.

February 3 - Pictures of Garage Shop Bay

Alanna & Joel worked on some electrical stuff for a few hours today...light was installed in the main bath tub; 2 light fixtures were installed in the car bay of the garage; outlets & switches were installed in garage, including the one for the garage door opener in the car bay and it is now plugged in; Alanna drilled the hole for the plug in the island & then she had to leave so Joel helped Henri put up some drywall in the shop bay of the garage. Once Henri is done the shop we can work on cleaning out the pile of 'stuff' in the truck bay & start getting organized out there. Then the lights can go up on the truck side, install the heat sensor & install the outlet for that garage door opener.

Alanna committed to drilling the hole through the cabinet & floor!

Lifting up the first sheet of drywall for the shop.

And the first sheet goes up!! Once the ceiling is dry walled the dividing wall can be finished (drywall, vapour barrier, insulation & osb on the shop side).

Thanks Guys!

February 1 - Crossed Lots Off The List

What a busy day!! Thanks to Susan, Glenn, Les, Gerry, Laurie & Alanna lots of tasks were removed from my ever-growing list!!
Henri is busy working on the shop in the garage & should finish in a few days. He has started insulating the back wall, built the wall between the bays & Alanna has wired a couple of plugs in it.
The washer & dryer were brought into the laundry room as they were in Henri's way (stored in the garage from when we moved). Now our plumber/HVAC fella (Jason) will install the vent for the dryer when he is back next week. He has all the plumbing done, just has to hook up the dishwasher and has a day or two of HVAC work left to complete.
Had to move some of our stored stuff in the basement as it was in Jason's way for him to do the HRV work...the wires for the phone & TV were run from the meter mast (outside) through the rafters in the garage & into the basement...the interior door knobs are now all in...we have sketches of all of our closets so we can now show the closet designer what we want & he can get to work on it...all interior light fixtures are now up...more breakers were hooked up to the panel so we now have more lights & plugs that work...some switch plates are on...old basement heater wires were removed...and a few other tasks, but you get the idea.
Thanks to Michelle for the yummy cookies & muffins...greatly appreciated!
All in all a very productive (& tiring) day!!

January 29 - Move In Delayed

We met with the building inspector at the house today to make sure that we are on the right track and in all that has been going on a little detail was missed on our part.
Before we can get an occupancy permit, the bay in the garage that will be the shop has to be built to fire code as it is attached to the house. The stars must have aligned for us because Henri (our main house builder from the beginning) is available to do the work!!!
So we will get all the materials and Henri will get started on this Friday afternoon.
As well (for adherence to code) the basement has to be dry walled to cover up the styrofoam Logix foundation. Before we can drywall we have to do the electrical. Bob, the inspector, said that this has to be complete within 30 days after moving in, but we would like it done before we move in.
So it looks like we will not be giving notice to move out of our apartment at the end of February, more like the end of March. But as soon as the house passes final inspection we will move in...even if it's March 3!!
So this weekend we will work on tidying the garage and few interior things as well.

January 27 - Pictures!!

It was so cold here today that for the first time ever I saw the sun dogs make a complete circle...not just be like brackets on either side of the sun.

As promised...here's a few pictures showing doors, light fixtures & smoke alarms (hard wired w/battery back up) over the bedroom doors. Door knobs are on the list to be installed this weekend.
Room above is the office/den. Below is the guest room.
Below is the master bedroom. Door on right is the ensuite, middle is closet and left is to the hallway.
 Door to basement.
Pantry door to be hung.
Dishwasher is just waiting to be hooked up...light fixtures hung over island... microwave installed. Thanks to Randy for coming out today and helping me to install the microwave (lol).
 Close up of granite.
Dining room & island pendant lights.

January 26 - Update

Sorry, still no pictures. Hopefully in the next couple of days - definitely things to see, it`s just that by the time I am done working the lighting isn`t good enough for pictures.
Been getting stuff done these last 2 weeks though. :)

Last weekend we had a great crew and on Saturday we all had to walk in 125 feet from the road as the driveway was all blown in. Ray plowed us out Saturday night so we were good to go on Sunday.

Thanks to Monica & Dwayne for hanging some doors (master bedroom, ensuite & walk in closet). And thanks to Monica for getting that faux-wall in the laundry room painted. On Sunday, Duncan came out and hung the main bathroom door. Laurie, Joel & Gerry worked on installing light fixtures and the 3 of them were back twice during the week with Alanna to finish the switches, plugs & light fixtures.

Glenn & Sue came to my rescue one evening and carried in the replacement dishwasher so our plumber could install it.

This past weekend was another busy one...

Thanks to Diane, Rick, Sandy, Terry & Garrity for making 3 trips to the dump with me on Saturday & tidying the garage as best as it can be right now. All that garbage is now out of the garage and out of the way to hang the lights and install the plugs & switches.  Laurie helped with cleaning up another (and final) septic tank issue as the septic tank pump is finally hard wired. Joel and Alanna worked on electrical stuff and we now can flick a switch and turn on lights in the front entrance, mudroom, 2 pce bathroom, dining room and 2 rows of the pot lights in the living room. How exciting!!!! Duncan and Janice were out Saturday & Sunday hanging more doors. They finished 2 bedrooms on Saturday but since we did not go out today we`re not sure what else they finished. Considering the roads and their drive from St Andrews, thank you so much for going today.

Thanks to everyone over the last couple of weeks for all your help...could not be this far along without you.

Ok, one picture...Alanna and Cuda in his favourite napping place. He still thinks he can fit in her lap. LOL. 4.5 months old and 52 pounds. He's going to be a big boy!!
