November 5 - Lots Going On

It was a busy day at the property...good thing Marshall was out there for the afternoon...somebody had to direct traffic! :)

First of all, the tarps and forms were removed from the garage grade beam.

From the back looking towards the street. On the left is the space for the 'man door' to the back yard. On the right is where one garage door and another 'man door' will be.

Close up of doors mentioned above. Once the concrete cures in a few days, the rebar sticking up in the doorways will be bent over to form part of the floor.

The two garage doors at the front of the house. The door on the left is a little wider (10' wide) to allow for the width of the truck. Car bay (9' wide) is the one on the right. Alanna can park in the bay on the back if the tractor isn't in her way. lol

The work on the garage was barely done when a lumber order showed up (flatbed and forklift on the right) and the two trucks at the stop sign are the drillers coming to do the well.

Setting up to drill down 300' for our well.

They got about 12' down and their drill broke!!! So this is the second crew who came. The truck on the left (which is the drill) was set up and will stay on site overnight. The crew will be back tomorrow to drill the well.

And while all of the above was going on...

3 tandem truck loads of clean fill (about 12 yards each) were brought in and levelled to raise the ground at the back of the house. You can see the dirt is up to the tops of the piles in the back.

The back was raised about a foot under where the deck will be and was sloped away from the house.

As well, at the front of the house, a tandem load of sand was brought in to fill the big voids that machines can't get in to pack down.
